This spring I had the opportunity to attend BPD for the fist time. It was the most amazing experience. Not only was I a member of the local planning committee, attended very interesting sessions, but I met so many amazing social workers from every part of the world.
As soon as I walked into the Ballroom there were smiling faces all over the registration room.
Immediately, I was summons to the "big house", this is where members of leadership were working hard to ensure a successful conference. As soon as I met Amanda, I knew that I was in good company with a great team. Her and I immediately started working very hard so that BPD could establish & maintain a social media presence during the conference.
Sessions:
The sessions that I attended were very informative & engaging. Of course, my favorite words these days consist of social work, education, practice, social media & technology. Therefore, I attended every sessions that provided knowledge and techniques that included these words.
Friendships:
I had the pleasure of meeting my cyber friends, totally the highlight of my time at BPD. The first cyber friend that I met was Laurel Hitchcock, she was educating myself and others on how to utilize Pintrest in the classroom setting in a scholarly manner. Afterwards, I attended a session featuring Melanie Sage and it was quite the treat. There were so many interesting tips as well as examples on how institutions and individuals are using social media in a professional manner.
Conclusion:
When I think back to the individuals met, experiences and perspectives gained #BPDTX2016 was a success.
Take away: Social Work & Social Media education is appreciated like never before.
