Incorporating social work practice skills is paramount to enabling student development. In order to nurture and develop future social work practitioners, student learning outcomes need to be emphasized more by educators. The integration of practice skills assists undergraduate social work students in various ways primarily in being distinctively competitive within and outside of the discipline. Many Universities are integrating active learning strategies within their curriculum. The student researcher observed three social work courses over a semester that utilized a service learning approach to skill development.
